Description:

http://www.portjeff.com/ After work I decided to take a quick walk down to the docks in Port Jefferson Harbor. This is right off the Long Island Sound and I just missed the ferry that goes to Bridgeport, Connecticut. I'll have to get a good video of the Port Jefferson ferry pulling away one of these days. July 3, 2007.

Right now it's 75 degrees, but still too warm for an undershirt and a long sleeved shirt like I'm wearing in the video. I have to dress warm because they keep the air conditioner too cold in the building where I work. It's supposed to go back up to the 80s something in the next week, it's been a bit cooler than usual here.

Loved seeing Port Jeff with all the boats. Last time I was there was winter and none of the docks or boats were there. Pan slower! Like a snail going up hill. It has to seem like totally slow motion at your end in order for us to be able to see everything going past.

LOL.....when you think you are moving slowly, SLOW DOWN MORE! hahaha I wanted to see the area but it went by too fast to really see. Yeah....try it again. I'd love to see down there in the summer! You ARE getting better, but need slower still.

PS - sometimes I pan a little too fast, too. You have to remember that only you know what you are seeing. You need to give people's eyes an opportunity to "register" and figure out what they are seeing.

The only thing is, when I pan more slowly it makes the video too long and here on YouTube people don't want to sit through long videos. They just want to briefly see what's there and move on. I guess it all comes down to opinion and personal preference, but I will be taking more and will take a few much slower for you.

It's a good reminder, though. I want to take more videos of Port Jefferson, I was probably kind of in a hurry to finish so that I can leave and get home. lol. I want to get there BEFORE the ferry pulls away next time, I REALLY badly want to get a good video of the ferry pulling out because it's so cool. Stay tuned for that.

With all the wonderful editing you can do, can't you take a video and then edit it to fit? YT says you can't have longer than a 10 min video! that is certainly more than 100,000! I don't know how to time my video to stay under 100,000. I can see how much time i am using, but no way to figure out when I need to stop. However, a 100,000 movie is pretty long!

I can have a video longer than 10 minutes. Last year I signed up to get a Director verification account. That has since been discontinued, but people with current Director verified accounts get to keep that ability which is great because now and then I have a video longer than 10 minutes.

WOW! That is looooong!! Now I see why you were "complaining"! :) Well...you can make two shorter videos of Port Jeff. One of the whole area and one of the Ferry coming in and docking and the area around the ferry! haha Didn't know they had this "director" status thing, etc. Well, I find that my almost-100,000 videos are quite long enough as that. Do you have any idea how many minutes it takes to make a 100,000 kb video with our Kodak cameras that we all have the same?

PS - don't you hate that wind noise on the mic! I try to remember to put my finger over the mic area when I am facing into the wind. Can't hear me talking with it blowing anyhow! LOL It's easy to do on the Kodak cameras.
