Description:

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Many blame LSD for the permanent damage to Peter Green's mental health, even Peter Green said "I took one too many LSD trips and that puts me in the 'Care and Attention' category." But the drug let out the doom that was already in there. From what I can gather he still spends much of his time as a recluse, self-isolated and on medication "I'm on some medication-- I don't know what it is-- but it makes it hard to concentrate. I rarely feel like playing." There is a sense of loss experienced by the rock community, loss of the talent that once was. The split in the band happened after Green claimed to have seen an angel holding a starving Biafran child in her arms and he wanted the band to work for charity to help feed the starving. This of course meant that he was mad. Mick Fleetwood flatly refused and John McVie, although he intially agreed, as Fleetwood put it "he soon came to his senses when he realized that the proposition was coming from a guy who'd just been given lots of acid." So in 1970, faced with the band's refusal to give all their money away, Peter Green wrote the 'Green Manalishi' and left. I heard he shaved off all his hair, gave everything he owned away and lived as a tramp for a while whilst he concentrated on his descent into madness.

transformative, I think, is the word you're looking for here - btw, considering the world is already pretty much a certifiable insanity factory, may as well credit Peter Green w/a descent into sanity - whatever, too bad for us he's left us all behind

This version is so good,i think the best songs are when the artist puts heart an soul in there work, and Peter Green did that.I like Judas Priests version for the hard rock/metal vibe.but i like this one more for its Sabbath vibe.Long Live Rock N Roll.....

There's guitar players who can give us interesting conversation with their instruments. Idle banter. Then there's guitarists like Green who can literally throw us into places and emotions we've never experienced. Music like this doesn't come from 'happy or normal' people. Amazing

B.B. King is quoted as saying that 'Peter Green was the only white guitarist who could make him sweat' - that about says it all Dr. Dream
