Description: I'm not a sAviOr fan, I'm not a Bisu fan either, but those games were so kickass and so I must comment. You know, there's a few ways to look at any game, you can look at it in a very amateurish way and see only what seems to be so obvious, or you can try to see it deeply as the professionals themselves see it. I took some time to go over what people had to say in Starcraft forums about this matchup, I have to say I don't really agree with most of whats being said, things like Bisu is the new best Protoss in the world and no one will be able to stop him now, or that sAviOr is starting to slump, or that he played the worst games of his life... I suppose many sAviOr fans are having trouble accepting his defeat but these games were nothing lower than sAviOr's normal standards, watch sAviOr's FPVODs of these games (already uploaded) they are perfect example of how a monstrous macro Zerg *should* play against anyone *except* Bisu (and now perhaphs other Protoss after seeing it can start practicing it, though very few will ever be able to do it as good as Bisu can) it is Bisu who brought something new in here and it is sAviOr's unbelievable stubbornness that he just did not accept whats going on and adjust accordingly, not in Game-2 nor in 3. Or people saying the famous ZvP imba is over and done with, and many others somewhat shallow statements without anything to back them up... I don't think any Bisu fans can honestly say, even after this 3-0, that Bisu is a 'stronger' player than sAviOr. He still has so much to prove while sAviOr doesn't- put Bisu against Iris, Midas, Hwasin and Nada, I'm not so sure what we'd see happening, honestly I can't tell yet, Bisu is just beginning to shine :-) no doubt atleast for me that sAviOr is the strongest player in the world still and will stay that way for the time being (although lately the progaming level of various players is nothing other than stunning, sAviOr is going to start having more and more difficulty keeping his current status IMO). No its not that Bisu is 'stronger' its that he brought an ingenious counter to sAviOr's (no other way to put it) greedy build, VERY specific counter to a VERY specific sAviOr style, like I said it was sAviOr's stubbornness for not doing anything different after seeing Bisu had his number, Bisu could win another 3 just the same way, it was nothing else than a perfect counter. sAviOr above all Zergs in the world could indeed go a dozen other ways and change turn of game events entirely (to this way or the other) I don't know, maybe Bisu already planned a counter to any other style sAviOr could adapt at that point, but what we saw was ONLY Bisu's perfection of one intense style specially designed to counter sAviOr's most common (and that one style with which he usually reigns supreme) style, I don't think many Protoss players in the world can mimic what Bisu managed to pull in these games. Personally I also think that even if sAviOr would adapt in Game-2 and try different things, Bisu would still come out victorious, it was his day, it was his time, I don't think 'generally speaking' that he's stronger than sAviOr, or NaDa for that matter, or various other players... heck he could face sAviOr tommorow without the spirit he had in the finals and not being able to carry out his strategies so perfectly he would suddenly lose 0-3 because nothing less than perfection can defeat sAviOr... BUT at that day and that finals he was stronger, he could beat anyone, he would be faster and better than anyone facing him, he even had some nice luck, he didn't care about maps it was all the same to him, he was calm and inspired, he was simply ready :-) and it really showed. Will we see more of that spirit and inspiration from Bisu? all I can say is maybe. And I have to add that IMO it wasn't a 'rape' as anti-sAviOr naturally say now, it wasn't like Boxer x3 Bunker Rush vs YellOw, this was something like sAviOr saying: "I have no idea how you're doing this, no Protoss could ever face me like this, now I have to see it through, I'm not changing, I'm not backing off, and if you can actually pull this off again, and again, then damn you deserve this title" maybe a bit too epic? oh well :-) then you can add "besides I got OSL and it owns MSL" :-) Day[9] and rS.NonY said alot of what I felt when watching the finals, and added so much more. Their understanding of the game is far greater than my own, explanations of the concepts and ideas behind what the players had in mind, some extremly interesting points made, I think many players would enjoy listening, can really enlighten you about the deeper levels of what went on in these games, beyond what most amateur players see as obvious. You can tell NonY and Day[9] what you thought of their commentary in the TeamLiquid thread: http://teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=50473 |
