Description:

My Funny Valentine Getz Stan/Chet Baker 1983 From several comments I learned that this is a concert done in Stockholm in 1984. Next to Stan Getz on tenor sax we see and hear Chet Baker doing the vocal and playing a great chorus on trumpet as well. It is too bad that the video and the sound are somewhat out of sink. It is not some clever lip technique, it is just that the picture shows about a second late. On piano is Jim McNeely, George Mraz is on bass and Victor Lewis plays drums. Stan getz ( 1927 -- 1991) was an American jazz musician. He is considered one of the greatest tenor saxophone players of all time. Known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone, Getz's prime influence was the wispy, mellow tone of his idol, Lester Young. In 1986, however, Getz said: "I never consciously tried to conceive of what my sound should be..." "Chet" Baker (1929 -1988)

J'adore cet artiste... Sa musique ressemble à une femme...Douce, reposante et sensuelle...

Why don't people get a grip on reality, he had a serious and chronic problem with depression.. So do we all in the world of "pain and beauty", which is jazz.....Who cares about Wikipedia..what the hell do they know!!!!

According to Wikipedia Chet's cause of death is listed as unknown. The drug theory is unproven,

Still a big disgrace he's not being taking serious in the US for the years after his comeback. Imo he did his best stuff in his last years. R.I.P. Baker !

this is from the tour that in which Getz cancelled the colaboration with Baker after 16 gigs because Getz was stinking jalous of Chet and couldn't handle the competition he felt. The shot with him at the background while Chet is doing the solo is fantastic.

i hear you stingerberry... i'm a bari player and found chet through listening to Mulligan. i love them both, yet for some reason chet did more vocally and instrumentally than gerry has. but i get so sad when i look at how decisions and addiction ravaged him and accellerated his life. it's all there on his facial expression. but at the same time that combination of beauty and sadness is reflected in his music, and the blend of the two is so appealing.

why need a drug dealer when the stuff is legal?!! --> ur talking bs here..heroine isnt legal in Holland. And he was not thrown out of the window, he most like just fell out of it (while under the influence of something)

Chet, for me,was the only trumpet man to convey all the emotions through his music.Sad sweet passionate thunder. As a pro trumpet player myself Chet was the best - who is there to take his place.
