Description: This is a short presentation in favor of the view that infinity is a number. There are at least two errors that I know of. First, I say "horizontal bars" when I mean "vertical bars". Second, I say that any number not equal to zero when multiplied by infinity equals infinity. This is wrong. The number must be greater than zero. If it were less than zero the result would be negative. I am sure there are more errors, though with any luck they are not damaging to my thesis. |

onotheo ::: Favorites 2008-01-27 09:31:09 I certainly find this video very interesting. It's something I've never encountered or really paid no attention to in Mathematics. __________________________________________________
VeritySeeker ::: Favorites 2008-01-16 12:29:57 Infinity can not be a number of several reasons. For instance, something can be more infinite than another infinity. __________________________________________________
jnoort ::: Favorites 2007-11-24 19:54:20 Hmm.. Why would you define a number, that doesn't act like a number at all? 1. X is a number (with a definition) 2. X doesn't follow the rules of ALL the other numbers! Why would you say that..? What's the point? __________________________________________________
jnoort ::: Favorites 2007-11-24 19:47:26 ?? Numbers do not have cardinality. __________________________________________________
jnoort ::: Favorites 2007-11-24 19:26:09 In addition: You CAN do math with infinity (mathematicians have been able to define the concept of infinity in a very succesfull way), but you can't do arithmetic operations with it. If infinity + n = infinity (with n in R) then infinity + infinity = infinity and 2 = 1. So *IF* you find a way to define infinity as a number, you certainly can't can use it as if it where a number in R, and apply normal arithmetics to it. __________________________________________________ |
