knowitall159 ::: Favorites This is called coprophagia and it is a sign of severe stress in many animals like this APE , monkeys have tails and apes do not so a chimp is not a monkey. In some species- such as the aptly named dung-beetle it is of use and an evolved adaptation( many large animals excrete large amounts of undigested food- such as hay,grass,etc in their feces and the dung-beetle takes advantage of this free food).
